Today was test 1 of my thyroid. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew it couldn't be to painful.
I waited for what seemed like 2 years and the more time I waited the scariest scenes played trough. When I called to make the appointment they said I would be in and out in an hour. Ok, did that include this wait time, prep time or was that just for the test? Was I going to get a needle, was I going to get blood work, what what what? Finally after waiting, and growing super old while I was waiting, I was brought back to a really creepy room. It was full of pictures of a thyroid. Not just drawings my friends, actual pictures. Gross, not something I really needed to see. {When I had gallbladder problems they wanted to show me EVERYTHING. They even asked if I wanted too see it when they took it out, in picture form of course- I was knocked out. That's OK. I know God puts things in there, but I don't need to see them.}The not- so -funny- but- wanted -to- seem- funny doctor came in and asked what I thought was wrong. With all my medical training and degree's I told him I thought I had a chest cold. {Which is how this all started right?} And he looked at me like I had horns and a nose ring. {How those two are connected I don't know.} After he used too many big words and asked me what type of blood test I had {yeah right like I know} he told me he wanted to give me a radiation iodine pill. Wow, what does that mean? I'm going to glow in the dark? {Chris was alittle upset that I wasn't going too!}
I got this nice large weird looking pill handed to me in a tube. The tech said, and I quote, "Take it right out of the tube. If you touch it you could die." I sat there and looked at him. Was he joking? How come it will kill me if I touch it but not if I take it out of the tube? We had a nice staring contest and finally I opened my medical professional mouth. "Bottoms up!" He stood there to 1-Make sure I didn't touch it 2- It went down and 3- That I didn't give it to the lady in the wheelchair singing to herself. When that was over he said he would see me tomorrow. Wait, that was it? No I was supposed to get a picture today. I wore my nice bra and everything! {Ladies don't act like you don't have nice bra's and the comfortable crappy bra's!}
I had to let this little pill fester into my system for 24 hours. Wasn't too sure what would come of it. I did ask for the side effects. But since I have a medical degree I already knew ;-) Ha! They listed the things that will happen 95% of the time. You had the basics- Nausea, diarrhea, dizziness. Then you had the ones that they don't really tell you about because they want you to panic when it happens- Neon yellow pee{sorry but it's creepy and it looks like Mt.Dew}, forgetfulness{which I have alot so I didn't think anything of it when I put the milk in the microwave}, jitterbug {not sure the right medical word for this but I was so full of the jitters I drove myself crazy}, and speeded {is that a word?} up heart rate. Now i'm already in there because of heart palpitations, lets make me race even more and see if Mandy will have the big one and call our office saying she thinks she is having a heart attack and all she is going is watching Tori & Dean.
I wanted to go into work but with all these odd side effects and the fact that I was an emotional wreck I went home. I laid on the couch all afternoon and only got up to walk the dogs or to inspect my Mt.Dew urine. {TMI?} When Chris came home I must have looked so bad. He just smiled and told me he loved me, then walked away as fast as he could.You said in sickness and health buddy.
Tomorrow is test 2. Can't wait too see what type of crap they do to me!

Busy
This week is going to be crazy busy. Lets do the bullets shall we?
* Getting Christmas totes, the ones I have at storage and not my grandmothers attic, home and ready for the big weekend!
* Test 1 and 2 of the thyroid.
* Blood work i'm sure at some point.
* Baking another Harvest Pound Cake for Turkey Day.
* Watching The Proposal at somepoint before it's due. {Love free rentals!}
* Cleaning everything I can before I decorate for the holidays. Such a pain!
* Re-arranging the living room so I can fit all the decorations.
* Work, off for Turkey Day, then back on Friday.
* Laundry
* Grocery shopping
* Making healthy meals
Doesn't seem so bad written out. But we all know sometimes things get added to the to-do list last minute ;-)

Family Thanksgiving & New Moon
First Off- New Moon was good. I am a book fan though. While I was watching it I kept saying to myself "That's not how it happened!" But still a good movie. I always knew in the back of my mind I was Team Jacob.
Between the two shirtless boys in this movie, he had it going on! Tan, 24 pack, crocked smile. I felt like a teenage girl when he took his shirt off. My MIL started to laugh at me. I made a "wow" type noise. Chris, thank goodness, thought it was the teenage girls behind us. I also felt really sorry for Jacob. In the books I didn't seem to connect with his character, but now...he deserves better then Bella Swan! Ok Edward fans, hate me all you want. But he left her and Jacob picked up the pieces. Then she drops him like a bad habit? Come on! I know how the series ends but still, I felt sorry for him. {No i'm not obsessed with this whole Twilight thing. I just like the books, the movies are OK. And it's something I had to see-since I read the books. I'm not one to strike up convo about the Twilight series. I mention this on here because most of you don't care and I think it's a way to bug you! JK}
I think I converted my MIL to Team Jacob. She said she never realized how cute he was until he cut his hair! LOL
Yesterday we had our first Thanksgiving of the year. My mom's side did theirs early, and on a weekend! So happy about that. We had a great time getting caught up with family.
Family always gathers in the kitchens don't they!? It was nice to have all of us together in one giant room.
Chris kidnapped a baby for the day. Sara Ann was soooo cute! She has chubby little checks and the bluest eyes. And the best part, she didn't scream when you picked her up!
She looks scared to death! But she really wasn't I swear. She was nice, and I was nice, and she smelled nice, and I smelled...like...turkey?
She and Chris sat for a long time watching the OSU game. She was just happy to have someone hold her. And I was shocked too see Chris hold her! He is OK with boys, girls is another story. He thinks they will break.
We had a great day. Great food, great family, great football!!!!!

Food Prep
Last night I made food for the family Thanksgiving. We like to do things early in our family ;-) I found these online and thought they were really a cute idea. And with all the kids coming to this event I thought it would be perfect.
They are called Pilgrim Cookies. {Some of you asked how I did these so take a look}
This is what you will need. I couldn't find plain chocolate cookie/wafers so I used the fudge ones instead. They work just fine.
First I put half a container of icing into a bowl. I only made 2 dozen cookies. But if you make more you will have to use the whole container. The icing needs to be room temperature before you begin.
Add your food coloring. I liked orange this year. But I have also seen them in yellow. Whatever floats your boat.
Add your icing into your piping gun. Or into a baggie if that's how you do it. {I could never do it that way. If you can, you are so gifted!}
Unwrap the Reece Cups. Taste one to make sure it's fresh ;-) Or taste a couple!
Flip the fudge cookie so that the chocolate side/dark side is showing. Unless you really really like the other color, but I think that may look odd. Once again you are your own person!
I put a ring of icing around the Reece cup and then stuck it on the middle of the cookie. Don't worry about the hole in the cookie, it will all work out.
Now this is the hard part. When you are doing this at a late hour and you are barely keeping your eyes open, sometimes they don't come out perfect. But if you have kids, say they made it. If you don't, say you put all your love into them! Family can't yell at you for that. And most of the kids didn't judge the icing too much.
And there you have it. All ready to go.
I also made a Harvest Cake. It involved apples and walnuts. And I made it all from scratch! I was too worried to take pictures, not sure how it would turn out. But I think it looks yummy. And it seemed like a big hit!

It's Freezing
When did fall go away and the cold winter set in? We had sun and a nice temp for a long time, today was rain and freezing!
I turned in the heart monitor this morning. Won't know anything for a day or so. I called the doctor in the afternoon to ask if at least the blood test was back but they didn't have anything yet. So I sit and wait and look on the internet and think of all the bad things I could have. Although it's really hard too tell because each website says something else. Can't sit here any longer waiting my doom. I call it doom because anything out of the ordinary for me is the end of the world! Ha-ha.

Heart Monitor
I went to the docs today because I thought I had a chest cold. For about a week I have had shortness of breath and a killer headache. I noticed I was irritable, I would snap at the smallest thing. I would yell and then wonder why something so small made me so upset. Too me, this was the start of a cold. Living in Ohio you get used to colds, sinus, flu. But for some reason I couldn't shake this. I had no cough, no stuffy nose and no fever. Odd, but who wouldn't have thought chest cold. It felt like someone was sitting on my chest, or someone was giving me a really big bear hug and never lettering go. I would find myself gasping for air while sitting on the couch watching TV. {The first night it happened I was watching Twilight and blamed Edward.}At the Buggy Baskets thing I would just be talking to someone and you would have thought I had just ran a mile, couldn't catch my breath.
I went to the doc to get some antibiotics. I get a cold every year around this time and I had no reason to think this was different. I gave him my symptoms. He asked about heart palpitations and I told him I had a weird feeling in my throat, like something was jumping around in it. I then started to realize this wasn't going to turn out the way I had expected.
After a few minutes of listening to my heart he said he wanted to get an EKG reading just too check himself. When that was over I waited for what seemed like hours and he came in with some odd news.
"I'm sending you to get some blood work. I need to check your thyroid. Also I want to send you to pick up a 24 hour heart monitor. I think your heart may be beating too fast which is causing you to have a hard time breathing."
Wow, that was a lot to process in 20 seconds. I came in for a cold and i'm leaving hooked up to a heart monitor. I took the blood work like a champ, no passing out this time. I forgot to breathe and she had to remind me. {Not a big deal, I can't breathe well anyways.} That didn't take any time at all and then I was off to the heart center to get hooked up.

Lots of rules with these things. Can't go near water. {Perfect it's raining!} No electric blankets. {Ok, not an old lady.} And don't touch all the buttons or it will shut off and you have to start over. {I like buttons, and the dogs like to push buttons it seems as well.}The monitor has a nice little count down on it, I checked it all the time. And I was so worried that one of those buttons would get pressed and it would be all over.
So tonight, i'm sitting on the couch getting caught up on shows and trying not to think about what the results will be. I shouldn't look online because according to them i'm a 95 year old woman having a stroke and heart attack at the same time. Ugh!

*Please pay no attention to the dirty bedroom. I'm cleaning it this week and I have things all over the place. The broom doesn't go there, the pillow needs to go to the trash, the mail needs to go to the office, and the clothing on the dresser needs to go to goodwill. I am a neat freak and it's flipping me out that it's dirty! Oh and the Frebreeze is the new Christmas flavor and it's dreamy!
